The effects of curating on artistic reference and public reception
The talk examines how prevailing group exhibition making practices: i.e., thematic curating and rule-based, exhibition formats, condition artistic reference and thereby determine public reception by drawing on principles of analytical philosophy. It is adapted from her forthcoming book « Contemporary Curating, Artistic Reference and Public Reception: Reconsidering Inclusion, Transparency and Mediation in Exhibition Making Practice», which will be published by Routledge (2021).
